Dentures Consent Form

You have elected to receive Dentures (Full / Partial , Upper / Lower , Acrylic/Chrome) for the replacement of missing teeth. This prosthesis is designed to restore aesthetics and some function, but it is important to understand that dentures are a substitute—not a replacement—for natural teeth.

What to Expect

• It is normal to feel discomfort, pressure, or looseness initially.
• Your mouth and gums will need time to adjust, which may take several weeks.
• You may notice changes in:
  - Speech (e.g., slight lisp)
  - Saliva flow
  - Chewing ability
  - Taste perception

These changes generally improve over time with regular wear and adaptation.

Managing Your Dentures

• Wear your dentures as advised, but give your gums a break overnight unless instructed otherwise.
• Clean dentures daily using a denture brush and non-abrasive cleanser.
• Soak them for 1-2 hours in denture-cleaning solution once weekly .
• Do not use hot water as it may warp the denture.
• Maintain regular oral hygiene for any remaining natural teeth and your gums.
• Use denture adhesives only if recommended by your dentist.

Adjustment Period

• Adjusting to dentures is a process. Sore spots, discomfort, and minor irritation are common initially.
• You may need follow-up appointments to make adjustments for comfort and fit.
•  It may take a few weeks to months to feel fully comfortable wearing and using dentures.
•  Avoid hard, sticky, or chewy foods during the initial period.

Limitations, Maintenance & Policy

•  Dentures will not provide the same function or feel as natural teeth.
•  Over time, bone and gums can change shape, requiring reline or remake of dentures.
• Regular checkups are recommended to assess fit, function, and oral health.
• Our work is of high professional standard, and we are committed to working with you to make all necessary adjustments for improved comfort and function. However, No refunds will be issued if the denture is not to the patient’s satisfaction.
